Traveling has always been something I look forward too when it is for fun or adventure!  It is amazing to think we can travel the world so quickly. Just hop on a plane and in  a few hours you can be thousands of miles from where you started.  It makes the world feel so much smaller than it actually is…. We woke up in the morning overlooking one of the most beautiful views on the planet on St. Johns island in the US Virgin island chain and in just over five hours of flight we are back home to north central Texas by the end of the day.  As I have gotten older I have not taken this for granted it still amazes me that you can fly at over 500 mph with a few hundred people and a bunch of luggage to almost anywhere in the world you want in one day.

Its seems like no matter where we go...

Cycles of Life -  4 Rules of a Great Life

It is funny to me how I see things now versus how I saw things even a decade ago… Time has a way of teaching you the cycles of life.  You are either learning from them or it circles and comes back. It’s  like growing a forest, it takes time over a decade  to become mature or you set fire to it every few years and get to start the planting process over.

4  Rules of a Great Life:

Rule 1) How you TREAT PEOPLE will determine how you are treated.  Any time you see yourself bigger than others its pride.  God sees our heart and we cannot hide. It is one of the quickest ways to lose respect.  The Golden Rule is real!

Rule 2) How you SERVE OTHERS  will determine the depth of your relationships.  If a relationship is transactional...

One of the most painful things in life, besides loss of a loved one,  is losing a friend or what we refer to as family of choice.  The reason it is painful is because it hurts at level of deep belief. You RESPECT someone, which leads to Honoring them and breeds LOYALTY.  When this is broken it hurts to the core.    This happens for lots of reasons and none of them are good reasons when you look back at the loss.  However, many times there  is absolutely nothing you can do about it because people are involved.  People choose their own destiny, friends, relationships and ultimately who they will do life.   In a previous blog I wrote that people are crazy and my opinion has not changed.  If you are a person who values relationships and are willing to put yourself out there you will walk through loss...

The typical thanksgiving post is about all that we are thankful and I have allot to be thankful! In this post I want to step back behind the obvious to tell the back story.  When I think about my family and how we got to Frisco Tx it goes back to when the Unclebach family and on my mother’s side the Whetsell’s came to America back in the early 1900’s.  I have not been able to find out why they came here, but let’s assume it was for a better life like most people who leave their families and friends and venture across the ocean.  We know that both families arrived around the same time and ended up in the Chicago suburbs and ended up working in the GM manufacturing industry.  My parents dated in high school and married in college.  She became a nurse and my Dad took the corporate route.  We moved to...

When I heard the news about Paul Allen, the 26th wealthiest person in America and C0-Founder of Microsoft, passing from cancer (Age 64) for some reason it really hit home!  It made me immediately think about Steve Jobs who was also one of the richest people in America and passed from cancer (Age 56).  Two men that had everything in the world, all the money they could possibly spend, recognition, success, etc. etc.  Maybe… it’s because I am almost the age of Steve Jobs or I can see that 64 is not that far off?  Maybe… it’s because I am in the health and wellness space, Maybe… it’s because I let over four decades go bye before I started working on my health,  Maybe…it’s because I speak to my friends about this issue and some of them don’t listen or seem to not care or maybe they have just not seen w...

What is freedom?  Is it just the ability to do what you want when you want, or it is really something much greater?   Is it something that effects those around you and the future.  Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Freedom is not the right to live as we please, but the right to find how we ought to live in order to fulfill our potential.”   For me it is something much deeper.

  • Freedom is living in a great country that fights for your right to be free.

  • Freedom is being able to worship the Almighty God without persecution.

  • Freedom is having the ability to choose your path.  Doing something that you enjoy and have passion to accomplish.

  • Freedom is being able to speak openly about anything.  I prefer the positive use of freedom of speech, but cannot judge...

We have all been around people that have something negative to say about everything even though there are plenty of things to be thankful!  I think having an attitude of gratitude is one of the greatest keys to happiness!  It’s a choice, discipline or decision.  Basically you decide!

This is an interesting thought process.  I have often thought of this as something similar to what is your quitting point, but it is completely different.  You may not quit doing something you just slow down the process with excuses!   Here is what I am talking about in a real life example.  My son who is a retired Navy Seal gave me a great lesson and dose of reality last night or actually early this morning.   Before you say it… he is a Navy SEAL and they are different or special or better, etc.  Remember what we are talking about there is always and excuse!!

He started a new blog that you can access by simply going to his Instagram account @garrettunclebach  and ready his journey laced with great lessons learned as a SEAL.  Anyway, here is the lesson.  He...

This weekend at church I heard a great quote from our guest speaker Marcus Lamb.  He is the Founder of DayStar International the largest Christian TV channel in the world.  He was sharing about the many challenges DayStar had in becoming the leader in their field.    His quote was “Attitude is more consistent the words”.   Boom!!!  Drop the mic….  That pretty much says it all for me.  I have said for years that people are watching you.  They are watching you in life, business, family, etc.   What do you portray?

Do they look at you and say:

  • “What a positive individual?”

  • “They have really handled adversity well!”

  • “Such a nice person.  A real pleasure to be around”

  • “They always make me feel better!”

Or it coul...

There are many reasons not to go to church. The best one I can come up with is people are there!  If people are involved there will be mistakes, offense, gossip, backbiting, affairs, criticism, lies and hate.      Remember why most people go to church, which is simply a gathering of people.   First out of obligation because your parents went and now you take your family.  Second because you feel like you need help or community.  Maybe there was a death, someone got really sick, divorce, you relocated and don’t know anyone, you feel like your life is not totally unfulfilled and you decided to go.  All good reasons to be in church.

Here is what I know after over four decades of attending church.  I have experienced everything I just stated good and ba...
