There is a famous quote that says

“ All successful people have agreed in being Causationists. They believe that they are the CAUSE for what happens to them. Unsuccessful men believe they are the EFFECT of what others have done to them or have not done for them.”

Henry David Thoreau

I am pretty sure that everyone at one time or another has said why me? or how in the world did this happen? or why is the world picking on me?  Its normal thought process and honestly, I totally understand it… However, the key is not dwelling on it or hanging out there long. Everyone has a different process to work thru difficult situations, but it should never be extended more than a few days!  If you allow it to stick in your mind it will create a path of memory and you will dwell on the failure, tragedy or c...

What is freedom?  Is it just the ability to do what you want when you want, or it is really something much greater?   Is it something that effects those around you and the future.  Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Freedom is not the right to live as we please, but the right to find how we ought to live in order to fulfill our potential.”   For me it is something much deeper.

  • Freedom is living in a great country that fights for your right to be free.

  • Freedom is being able to worship the Almighty God without persecution.

  • Freedom is having the ability to choose your path.  Doing something that you enjoy and have passion to accomplish.

  • Freedom is being able to speak openly about anything.  I prefer the positive use of freedom of speech, but cannot judge...

This weekend at church I heard a great quote from our guest speaker Marcus Lamb.  He is the Founder of DayStar International the largest Christian TV channel in the world.  He was sharing about the many challenges DayStar had in becoming the leader in their field.    His quote was “Attitude is more consistent the words”.   Boom!!!  Drop the mic….  That pretty much says it all for me.  I have said for years that people are watching you.  They are watching you in life, business, family, etc.   What do you portray?

Do they look at you and say:

  • “What a positive individual?”

  • “They have really handled adversity well!”

  • “Such a nice person.  A real pleasure to be around”

  • “They always make me feel better!”

Or it coul...

The quote you see in the caption is from Tommy Tenney and its a great quote. If there is one thing I have learned over the last 5 decade’s it is way better to apologize quickly and forgive wrongs swiftly then to carry around anger and bitterness.   What I have said literally hundreds of times “Who wants to be judged on their worst day?”  I know that I don’t want to be judged on some of my worst days and so glad I was given grace by my friends and family.   Here is what I know if you carry around unforgiveness and remain bitter over an offense it’s like drinking poison and hoping it kills the other person!!   There is a ton of medical data regarding what this does to you physically which is a supernatural correlation to your body.  Literally unforgiveness will take you to the grave early!  The bibl...

How do we pack it all in every day?   Get up take some time for self improvement, spend some time with God in the word and prayer, get in a quick workout,  head to work or your first meeting,  answer text, emails, check in on social media because the world might end if you don’t!  Get the kids to school, change the oil in the car,  purchase gifts for the next party,  shop for groceries, pick kids up and get them to practice,  head to church, check social media again Instagram needs to see your latest pic!!  I could go on and on and each of you could add a dozen activities to the list.   LIFE IS FAST and does not appear to be slowing down.  It is extremely important to make sure we focus every day on what is really life changing, what lines up with your core values.  Your spouse, your children, you...

Learning to be thankful in all things is very difficult at times.  As you get some years under your belt and some life situations you learn to see things through the lens of thankfulness!  You begin to see that God really does have you in his hand and has your best future in mind.  He can see the end from the beginning and we usually cannot.    There are times when it is easy to be thankful.  Those moments when you are overwhelmed by the love and generosity of others.  It can come during times to celebrate and comes in time of tragedy.    Yesterday it came to me during a time to celebrate and I was honestly overwhelmed with the love and gratitude extended toward me from people I know well and people I know through business or church.   The out pouring was beyond anything I deserve or could have po...

That just about sums it up!  Jesse knew that dreams can come true if you are willing to pay the price to make it happen.  Behind every great person, athlete, idea, new technology, break through or company is a lot of hard work.  Everyone has probably heard the term 5 year overnight success.  We all hear about these great new companies or products from companies that it took 5 years or more to create.  Many companies don’t show up on the radar until they are over a decade old.  Great effort, mistakes, failures, frustration, and then finally it all comes together for amazing success!  Malcolm Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at anything.  Michael Jordon did not become the great player he was without being first to practice and last to leave.  Nobody outworked him!  That is the...

This great quote sent me down the road thinking about the tests in my own life and how they effected me negatively and more importantly positively.

You will never advance in any area that you have not been tested in. – Keith A. Craft .  leadershipology.com

Nobody likes the part of being tested, but it is so true! Testing creates strength, stamina, patience, wisdom, understanding and learning the value of success! Stay in the game... Finish your test and come out the other side elevated to your next level!

The Texas weather reminds me of life.  We say all the time “if you don’t like the weather just wait a day it will change!”  It is so true… This time of year it can be 80 one day and 40 the next!  Rain for weeks and than drought for months.  You just never know what you are going to get!  Honestly it is mostly mild here, but like all story telling in Texas it might be a little exaggerated.

In life things change and sometimes it seems like it’s a daily occurrence.  Change is the one for sure in life.  We are all getting older every day, children grow up so quickly, people change jobs now every 3 years,  technology is out dated almost immediately, cars change every few years,  over 50% of marriages change,  people change churches,  families move away, people pass,...

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted. No, its no writers block I have actually been working on finishing a book many of you know I am writing about raising children, but specifically raising a Navy Seal son.   I will keep you posted as to its completion in the coming months and I am committed to its completion soon.   However, yesterday as I sat in a funeral celebration of a 70 year old friend and someone I truly had admiration it was sobering to think how short life can be. It also made me think of the impact we are having on other people. Are we a blessing?  Do we bring positive energy to those around us?  Are we making the world a better place or just existing in it?  Does our life example lead anyone to wanting to know Jesus Christ as their Savior? Are we generous?  What about our legacy?...
