The Spice of Life!

The Spice of Life! Do we allow it to season us making us better or make our life bitter? It amazes me all the challenges that arise in life. Honestly some times it seems like you have heard everything and then something else crazy happens to you, your family or someone you know. Sometimes bad things even happen when you are being generous to someone else. I heard a story yesterday of this exact thing. Trying to help someone out going thru a difficult time by allowing them into your home and they steal everything they can get their hands on and leave! How about all the sudden someone who was perfectly healthy has a brain aneurysm and is gone. This specific thing happened to me with my father when he was 62 and my best friend when he was 33 within two years of each other! It is impossible to explain. The word of God says in Duet. 29... "the secret things belong to God, but the things revealed belong to us".. So beyond grief, anger and frustration comes two things.

First, a decision to not let life beat you up or get you down. There is always something to be thankful for and if you focus on that it will change your mindset. For example I am thankful for my healthy and productive children, I am thankful for my close friends, I am thankful for my awesome wife, I am thankful I have a car. You can see what I mean there is always something to be thankful!

Second, you can find peace in God! John 14:27 says "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid." When I have went thru difficult times or situations I cannot imagine how I would have felt all alone without God as my ultimate support and peace. This has steadied my ship many times and brought me back to the harbor safely.
