Rest to be Your Best!
The beach produces energy for me! If you follow me or Darlene socially you know that we just took a week off on the beach. This has always been our favorite place to rest and recharge and focus on us for a few days. In our crazy busy lives we get caught up on one thing to the next over and over! Trust me I know about a full calendar and sometimes there is not even time to think. We have work, children, church, bible studies, sports, birthdays, weddings, funerals, cleaning, cooking, car repairs, side hustle, yard work, reading, TV shows, work outs and after all that vacations. I think we all get the point. Barely time to do what you have to do let alone do what you want to do! This centuries old quote sums it up.
“ Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.” Leonardo da Vinci
Not only is this a great quote but it is over 500 years old! So that throws out the thinking this is a modern problem. The bottom line, and I am not going to bore you with all the statistics about this topic, we need to put rest time (vacation) on our calendars for our physical and mental health. You don’t have to spend allot of money to get away. Some of our greatest memories are hopping in the car and hitting the road. Explore your area or even further. There are parks, mountains, grand canyons, deserts, beaches and lots of history to explore. You can stop at all the historical markers and read them! You get my point just take some time alone, take some time with your kids just to get away. We all need to Rest to be our best!!
