The Big Picture.. I Choose to be Happy!

Traveling has always been something I look forward too when it is for fun or adventure! It is amazing to think we can travel the world so quickly. Just hop on a plane and in a few hours you can be thousands of miles from where you started. It makes the world feel so much smaller than it actually is…. We woke up in the morning overlooking one of the most beautiful views on the planet on St. Johns island in the US Virgin island chain and in just over five hours of flight we are back home to north central Texas by the end of the day. As I have gotten older I have not taken this for granted it still amazes me that you can fly at over 500 mph with a few hundred people and a bunch of luggage to almost anywhere in the world you want in one day.

Its seems like no matter where we go we find amazing people who are happy and satisfied and we find people who do not appear to be happy even in the some of the most beautiful places in the world. They unfortunately are taking it for granted or have never seen anything else and don’t know its special.

So what’s my point? My point is making the most of your life, enjoying what can be enjoyed and choosing to get through the tough times. I know how blessed I have been in life getting to travel much of the world, but I could take it for granted. I could look at unimportant things and be mad that I didn’t get upgraded to first class or choose to be offended when the flight attendant told me I had to go to the back of the plane to use the restroom even though we were sitting in row 7 right behind first class. “Sir you need to use the restroom in you class of seat.” I have flown hundreds of flights and never heard that before and to be quite honest it did not sit very well!!

It’s a choice to have a good attitude or choose to be offended. It’s a choice to enjoy your day, your week, your life. It really is Big Picture thinking and choosing where to focus. As a believer I lean on what the scriptures say for comfort in times of high stress or pain. It is the best personal growth book in the world!! “This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.“ Psalms 118:24 As a believer or not at your core you have to choose a couple things that can steer your life to happiness.

1) Choose to not be easily offended.

2) Choose to not judge people on what might be there worst day.

3) Choose to forgive quickly and first.

4) Choose to understand it could be worse!

Walking to the back the plane to use the restroom was way better than the plan falling out of the sky. I know a little dramatic, but very true! I choose to not be offended, don’t judge, forgive quickly and remember how blessed we really are and above all I choose to be HAPPY!!
